A spicy Maharashtrian Sweet that helps to fight against colds and cough 

INGREDIENTS

1 cup ginger, cleaned and sliced 

  • 2 cups jaggery ( or sugar) 

  • ½ tsp turmeric ( optional) 

  • ½ tsp nutmeg powder 

  • Ghee for greasing the tray 

INSTRUCTIONS

  • grind together ginger and jaggery to a fine paste

Heat up a pan 

  • Add the ginger and jaggery paste

Keep flame at low to medium flame 

  • Keep stirring the mixture continuously until it thickens 

  • Add nutmeg powder and turmeric after 6-7 minutes 

  • Keep flame at low after about 10 mins

  • The whole process would take around 15 minutes to thicken 

  • Transfer to a ghee greased plate or tray 

  • Spread evenly and cut using a greased knife or  pizza cutter before it cools down completely

Cut small squares and that’s it 

  • Leave it to cool completely 

  • Store in an airtight container

  • Enjoy as candy or can add it to your tea or hot water
