It is also known as Lohri, Pongal in different parts of India.In Maharashtra, the festival is celebrated for 3 days Bhogichi Bhaji is a Maharashtrian traditional winter recipe made on the first day which is Bhogi. It consists of a seasonal bounty of winter vegetables along with peanuts, dry coconut and sesame seeds and is an integral part of the festivities. I’ll leave you all to enjoy this Bhogichi Bhaji with a Marathi phrase ‘’Na Khayi Bhogi to sada Rogi’’ ( one who does not eat Bhogi is always troubled with sickness) Ingredients: 1brinjal,cut1potato , cut¼ cup green peas¼ cup carrot , cut¼ cup papdi , cut ¼ cup French beans , cut¼ cup Tondli, cut 4-5 Garlic pods ½ inch Ginger1-2 Onion, sliced 2tbsp Peanuts,roasted1tbsp Sesame seeds,roasted1tbsp Dry coconut ,slicedSmall bunch Coriander leavesOil1tbsp Kanda lasun masala or chilli powder (OR Shilpa’s Masala Mill Everyday Masala)½ tbsp Shilpa’s Masala Mill Special Goda masala 1tbsp Shilpa’s Masala Mill Kashmiri chilli powder 1tbsp red chilli paste ( optional) Salt to tastePinch of sugar or jaggery 1tsp Jeera seedsFew curry leaves INSTRUCTIONS HEAT littke oil in pan and fry the onions, dry coconut, ginger, garlic and sesame seeds until slightly brown Add green chilly and coriander and grind to a fine paste.keep aside Add oil to pan and add cumin seeds Now add all the vegetables, turmeric and salt Cover and cook until 60% done In another pan heat up some oil Add curry leaves and all the powdered masalas Fry then and then add the ground masala Stir fry on low flame Add vegetables and a little water Cover and simmer for few more mins until done Adjust seasoning and garnish with some sesame seeds and chopped coriander leaves That’s it , your Makar Sankranti Special Bhogichi Bhaji is ready Enjoy with sesame Bajra bhakris and a dollop of gheeSPICE LEVEL:🌶🌶 Shilpa Anand
