KULLUKI SHARBAT

Kulluki Sharbat is one of the popular sarbath from God’s Own Country, Kerala, especially Cochin. It’s a sweet and spicy shaken lemon/ lime juice with basil seeds. I’ve used Calamansi instead of lemons. A truly refreshing summer drink

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2tsp basil seeds (sabja) soaked in water for  5-10 mins

  • Sugar -2  tbsp

  • Juice  of 1  lemon or calamansi juice

  • Pinch of salt

  •  Cold water

GARNISH:

  • Mint leaves

  • 1 Green chili slit in the center

  • Ice cubes

  • Slice of lemon or calamansi

  •  Granulated  sugar for frosting  the glass

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Add and dissolve  the sugar in the lemon juice

  2. Add the pinch  of salt

  3. Add soaked sabja seeds, green chili, and mint leaves

  4. Add few ice cubes and water.

  5. Shake the mixture vigorously before serving.

  6. To serve:

Rub a little lemon juice on the rim of the serving glass. Invert the glass and dip it into the granulated sugar. The sugar will stick to the glass. Now carefully pour the Kulluki Sharbat into the glass.

Enjoy it chilled!
