NARIYAL BARFI

Nariyal Barfi
Coconut barfi
This delicious fresh coconut dessert is often made during festivals and celebrations especially in south India.
This recipe consists of milk , sugar , coconut , nuts and a little milk powder.
Easy and delicious.

Nariyal Barfi (coconut Barfi) 

INGREDIENTS:

  • ½ liter full cream milk

  • ⅓ cup desiccated coconut( may use fresh coconut ) 

  • 1 tsp ghee ( clarified butter)

  • ½ cup milk powder

  • 2tbsp cream 

  • 1-2 tbsp sugar( according to taste) 

  • Chopped pistachios for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Take a heavy bottom pan ( non stick )

  • Boil the milk for 3-4 minutes

  • Now add the desiccated  coconut

  • Add ghee 

  • Cook this mixture on low-med flame until the milk reduces to half of its quantity

  • Keep stirring continuously 

  • Now add milk powder 

  • Add cream and sugar 

  • Keep stirring continuously so that no lumps form

  • Stir until thickens and the mixture leaves the sides of pan easily ( forms dough like consistency)

  • Lightly Grease a mould with ghee (I have used parchment paper to line the container)

  • Pour the hot Barfi mixture into the greased mould

  • Smoothen the Barfi with spatula ( press it down to your desired thickness) 

  • Garnish with pistachios

  • Chill the Barfi in the refrigerator for 30-40 mins 

  • Cut into desired shapes

  • Your easy, yummy Nariyal Barfi is ready
