VALACHE BIRDE - FIELD BEANS CURRY

INGREDIENTS for green masala

½ cup coconut 

  • 4-5 garlic cloves

  • 1-2 green chillies

  • ½ inch ginger 

  • Small cinnamon stick 

  • 2-3 cloves

  • Coriander ( small bunch ) 

INSTRUCTIONS 

grind together to form paste

OTHER INGREDIENTS 

  • 1 cup vaal , soaked, sprouted and de skinned

1Onion , chopped

  • 1tomato, chopped half 

  • 1-2 tbsp Chilli powder 

  • ½ tbsp Shilpa’s Masala Mill Special Garam masala 

  • ½ tsp turmeric powder 

  • ¼ tsp hing 

  • 1tsp Cumin seeds

  • Salt to taste 

  • Oil 

  • Coriander for garnish 

(Note: You may substitute garam masala + chilli powder with Shilpa’s Masala Mill Everyday Masala)

INSTRUCTIONS 

  • Heat  oil in kadhai

  • Add jeera, onion and fry for few mins

Add little tomato , chilli powder, turmeric and coriander leaves

Fry for 2-3 mins 

  • Add the Vaal and mix it well

Add green masala,garam masala and salt

  • Add hot water and cover and simmer for 10 -15 mins until vaal is tender 

  • Add halved tomato and lemon juice and switch off gas

Garnish with coriander leaves

  • Your healthy  and delicious Vaalache birde is ready

Enjoy hot with rice 

  • I’ve served it with salad and  flower chi bhaji
