RED VELVET MARBLE CAKE

INGREDIENTS 

  • 250 gms butter ( room temp)

  • 150 gms sugar ( 1cup) 

  • 5 large egg yolks

  • 1tsp vanilla essence 

  • 3 tbsp  condensed milk 

  • 2tbsp powdered milk 

  • 2cups or 250 gms self raising flour (I used 2 tsp baking powder and ½ tsp salt and  2 cups of all purpose flour 

  • 5 egg whites

  • ¼ cup or  50 gms sugar 

  • 2tbsp yogurt

  • 1tsp cocoa powder

  • 1tsp red food colouring 

  • 2tbsp cocoa powder 

  • 1tsp chocolate Emulco( I used Hershey’s) 

INSTRUCTIONS

  • PREHEAT oven to 160 c 

  • In a large mixing bowl whisk together butter and sugar until pale 

  • Add one egg yolk at a time and whisk

Add vanilla essence , condensed milk and whisk well 

  • Sieve milk powder and self raising flour into the batter and mix gently with spatula 

  • Do this in batches 

  • In another bowl whisk egg whites 

  • Add 50 gms sugar 

  • Whisk until soft peak 

  • Gently fold in the egg white mix into the cake batter 

  • Mix gently with spatula 

  • Take 3 bowls Divide into 3 equal parts

To one bowl add yoghurt, cocoa powder and red colour . Mix well 

  • To another bowl add 2tbsp cocoa powder and chocolate emulco. Mix well 

  • Take a greased 8 inch pan and pour cake batter alternately ( always in centre)

Use toothpick to create a beautiful top layer

Bake at 160c  for 60-70 mins 

Cool , cut and enjoy the visually perfect Marble cake
