KALYA VATANYACHI MISAL

INGREDIENTS

200 gms dry  black peas, soaked overnight 

  • Oil

  • 1tomato,fire-roasted

  • 2onions,fire-roasted

  • ¼ dry coconut,fire-roasted

  • 1inch ginger,fire roasted

  • 5-6 garlic cloves 

  • 1tbsp sesame seeds 

  • 1tbsp coriander seeds 

  • ½ tbsp cumin seeds 

  • Coriander leaves 

  • Salt 

  • 1-2 tbsp of Shilpas Masala mill usal-misal Masala 

  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder 

  • Curry leaves 

INSTRUCTIONS 

  • pressure cook the black peas with salt  until they are softened ( 5-6 whistles) 

  • Grind together the fire-roasted onions, tomato, ginger, coconut, garlic, coriander, cumin and sesame seeds to a fine paste. Add water if needed

Heat oil in a kadhai 

  • Add little cumin seeds and curry leaves 

  • Add the ground paste and fry

Add turmeric, misal masala and fry for a few minutes

Add the boiled black peas( reserve some to grind and use later.. this thickens the gravy ) 

  • Fry for a few minutes

Add hot water and cover and simmer for a few minutes ( 7-10 minutes) 

  • Add coriander leaves

Thats it, your black peas misal is ready

  • Add some chopped onions,coriander leaves and sev

  • Serve hot with pav. Rice, rotis
