HOMEMADE BANANA CHIPS

INGREDIENTS

  • 3-4 raw bananas( surti/ Kerala) 

  • 3-4 tbsp water mixed with ¼ tsp turmeric powder and 1tsp salt

Oil for frying 

  • black pepper powder( optional)  

  • Chilli powder ( optional) 

INSTRUCTIONS 

  • PEEL and clean the raw bananas 

  • Heat oil in a kadhai for frying 

  • Keep the slicer ready. We will directly slice bananas into the hot oil. Be careful

Slice bananas into oil 

  • Don’t overcrowd 

  • Fry for 1-2 mins on one side try to separate the slices

Pour 2-3 tsp of the turmeric water solution into the oil on the surface of the bananas

Be careful as lots of bubbles form and it could splutter a lot 

  • Fry bananas until done and crisp ( bubbles reduce and oil seems calm ) 

  • Remove and drain onto the kitchen towel 

  • Your banana chips are ready 

  • Divide and flavour accordingly while still hot  

  • I’ve made chilli and black pepper

I’ve made a sweet variation too where instead of adding turmeric and saltwater I added a sugar and water mixture instead

You can make coconut oil banana chips by substituting coconut oil instead of regular oil while frying
