PANDA EXPRESS INSPIRED ORANGE CHICKEN

 INGREDIENTS FOR Chicken

  • 250-300 gms chicken, thighs or breast sliced or cubed

  • ½ tsp pepper

  • Chilli flakes( optional) 

  • ½ tsp Salt 

  • 1-2 tbsp Orange juice

  • 100 gms Cornstarch

  • 2 Egg, beaten 

INSTRUCTIONS

  • MARINATE chicken with salt, pepper and orange juice.cover and keep aside for at least 30 mins 

  • Mix together egg and cornstarch to make a smooth batter 

  • Add chicken and coat it evenly

  • Heat oil to deep fry

  • Add chicken ( do not overcrowd)

  • Fry in batches for 4- 5 mins only

  • Remove and cool

  • Now double  fry all the chicken until golden and crispy

  • Your chicken is ready 

INGREDIENTS FOR ORANGE SAUCE

  • Oil

  • 1tsp ginger, chopped

  • 1tbsp garlic, chopped

  • Red pepper flakes

  • ¼ cup of orange juice 

  • 3 ½ tbsp of soya sauce 

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • 1tbsp honey( optional)

  • 1 tsp orange zest

  • 3tbsp vinegar

  • 1tbsp Cornstarch  to make a slurry 

  • Scallion and sesame seeds for garnish

  • Sesame oil

  • Rice wine

INSTRUCTIONS

  • HEAT oil in a pan

  • Add ginger, garlic and chilli flakes

  • Add sugar and brown sugar

  • Stir the mix

  • soya sauce

  • Add orange zest 

  • Add vinegar 

  • Add cornstarch slurry

  • Continue mixing for around 2 mins

  • Turn off heat when u get the desired consistency 

  • Add chicken and coat it well

  • And you are done

  • Your orange chicken is ready to be served

Garnish with scallions and sesame seeds and serve with fried rice
