EASY GREEN MOONG DAL

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1cup green Moong soaked

  • 1onion sliced

  • 1tomato chopped

  • 1tbspb ginger paste

  • 1tsp garlic paste

  • 1-2 tsp Red chili powder

  • ¼ tsp Turmeric powder

  • 1tbsp Shilpa’s Masala Mill Garam masala  

  • 1tbsp Kasuri Methi 

  • Pinch of Hing

  • 1 Bay leaf

  • 1small piece of Cinnamon

  • 1tsp Cumin seeds

  • Salt to taste 

  • 1-2 green chilies

  • Lemon juice to taste 

  • Coriander leaves

  • 2-3 tbsp Ghee ( oil can be substituted) 

INSTRUCTIONS

  • pressure cook the soaked Moong dal with enough water, salt, turmeric, little onion, and a little tomato. Cool and keep aside

  • Heat ghee in a pan

  • Add cumin seeds, cinnamon, bay leaf, and hing. Sauté for 1-2 mins

  • Add onion

  • Add ginger-garlic paste and fry for 2-3 mins

  • Add powdered masalas and continue to fry for 3-4 mins ( add little water if masala tends to burn)

  • Add tomatoes and fry until oil separates on surface and sides

  • Add Kasuri Methi and fry for a min

  • Add the cooked Moong dal

  • Add hot water to adjust dal consistency 

  • Adjust seasoning 

  • Add green chilies and cover and cook for 8-10 mins

  • Adjust seasoning

  • And your easy, nutritious green Moong dal is ready 

  • Serve garnished with coriander and lemon juice
