CHANA DAL FARA OR BHAKOSA

INGREDIENTS for dough 

  • 1cup whole wheat flour 

  • ¼ cup semolina( optional) 

  • ½ tsp salt 

  • 1tsp ghee 

INSTRUCTIONS 

  • knead the dough ( medium like paratha atta) 

  • Leave to rest for 30 mins 

  • Make equal dough balls 

INGREDIENTS FOR STUFFING 

  • ½ cup chana dal ( soaked overnight )

2-3 green chillies, chopped

  • 1 inch Ginger

  • Salt 

  • ¼ tsp ajwain 

  • 1tsp red chilli powder 

  • 1tsp Coriander powder 

  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder 

  • ½ tsp Dry mango powder(amchur)

  • ¼ tsp Garam masala 

  • Pinch of Hing

  • Coriander leaves

INSTRUCTIONS 

  • grind the dal with ginger, chillies without water into a coarse paste 

  • Add all other ingredients

Your stuffing is ready 

LET'S MAKE CHANA DAL FARA

  • roll out the dough balls into circular disc shapes 

  • Add 1 tbsp of stuffing

Seal edges with little water

In the meanwhile keep water to boil in a vessel 

  • Put the fara into the boiling water

Cook on a medium flame for 15-20 min

Once cooked, remove on a sieve,cool  and slice

LET'S GIVE TADKA 

  • heat mustard oil in a pan 

  • Add cumin seeds

  • Add hing,haldi , coriander powder, red chilli powder, salt  and amchur 

  • Fry for 1-2 minutes 

  • Add the fara and toss well

Garnish with coriander leaves

  • That’s it, enjoy the delicious Chana Dal Fara with chutney
