HONG KONG STYLE FRENCH TOAST dessertsAsian RecipesTea time snackHong Kong recipesSandwiches 30 Jul Written By Shilpa Anand Hong Kong Style French ToastStuffed with peanut butter and cheese and drizzled with butter and condensed milk, this delicious and unique French toast is popularly served in Cha Chaan Teng( cafe)with a cup of Hong Kong milk tea.Simply scrumptiousINGREDIENTS:2 slices of thick-cut bread 1-2eggs1-2 tbsp of cream or milk1-2 tbsp of peanut butter1-2 tbsp of condensed milk1 tsp butter( cut into a small block)Cheese slice A drop of vanilla essence (optional) Pinch of powdered sugar ( optional)4-5 tbsp of oil for frying INSTRUCTIONSCut the sides of the breadPut peanut butter on one side of bread ( or both) Place cheese on one slice of bread Close sandwich Beat the egg, cream, vanilla, and powdered sugar in a bowl. Transfer this egg mixture to a plateHeat oil in a pan ( med heat)Dip the prepared sandwich into the egg mixture. Coat well. Do not soak Fry the sandwich in oil (30-40 sec on each side) until light golden brown Remove and place on a paper towelTransfer to a serving plate Add butter and condensed milk Your delicious hong kong style French toast is ready Enjoy hotNote:Traditionally a block of butter and golden syrup is served over the French toast.
